MYSTERIOUS WINTER

During winter the  Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia take on a misty myserious air.  The queues are much short and local traders are more keen to bargain.  See the Old City in a different light with less tourists around.  Enjoy your meal by the fire at our local restaurant before snuggling up in your warm bed or perhaps a cup of Salom in the Hippodrome  You may be even lucky enough to see all Byzantium and Ottoman Istanbul under snow!

SPRING ABLAZE / AUTUMN COLOURS

Spring is Tulip Time in Istanbul.  The gardens are ablaze with colour all over Istanbul and the Tulip Festival is on in Istinye Park.  The International Film Festival is in May and the Jazz Festival in June.  Everything is fresh and green again.  In Autumn the weather is perfect – just right for sightseeing and eating out around Istanbul in the lovely evenings.

SUMMER / RAMADAN TIME

Ramadam is a special time in the Muslim Calendar.  It is a time of fasting, reflection and coming together as a family at the time of breaking fast every evening.  The Old City of Sultanahmet comes alive at this special time.  All around the Blue Mosque and Sultanahmet Park there is a carnival atmosphere.  Craft stalls set up special menus, shops selling all number of things are open late.  Ottoman bans and stilt walkers and vendors wanter through the crowds.  Tourists are welcomed to join in the festivities.  If you are travelling to the South of Turkey for summer  or are arriving for a Cruise an Istanbul package brings an opportunity to see the Old City on the way.
